Magpie Shining

(there..magpie..was flying up the river..shining)
“There magpie was flying up the river with his wings gleaming in the sun.”
The expression /law/ is reduplicated and is found in the Nez Perce mythic narrative How Coyote Lost His Eyes. See pg. 142 in Nez Perce Oral Narratives (Aoki & Walker 1984). The poetic use here suggests that the flapping motion of Magpie's iridescent wings contributes, in part, to its wings gleaming in the sun.
Poetry in motion.
